China Blasts Pentagon Report as Distortion of Facts
By Stephanie Ho
Beijing - 26 March 2009

China says an annual report on the Chinese military, issued by the
Pentagon, distorts the facts and wrongly presents the Asian giant as a
military threat.

Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Qin Gang was blunt in expressing
his government's resolute opposition to the U.S. government report.

Qin says the report issued by the U.S. side continues to play up what
he called "the fallacy of China's so-called military threat." He calls
the Pentagon report a "gross distortion of facts and interference in
China's internal affairs."

The U.S. Defense Department's annual report on China's military power
said the Asian nation continues to increase the pace and scope of its
military modernization. It also expressed concern about a lack of
clarity on how Chinese leaders intend to use their growing
capabilities.

Last time I checked, US defense spending was about equal to that of
the entire RoW combined.

We've also been pretty aggressive in places like Afghanistan and
elsewhere near the Chinese border.

It really should not come as a surprise to anybody that they're
building up their military.

That would explain why they'ev bought so much more iron ore and coke
than is needed for domestic industry.

Stockpiling? No.

Carrier fleet? Yes.

Still, only accounts for about 10% of global military expenditures,
compared to 50% for USA.

They have a ways to go to catch up.

Question is, can China win an arms race with USA?

The Soviets tried that
we outspent them
Reagan gambled American Children's future that our economy was more
robust and more resiliant that the Soviets
The Soviets bankrupted themselves keeping up with the American Arms race.

Is the American economy so robust & resiliant in 2009, that we can play
an economic game of "Chicken" with the Chinese?
Hell no!

Huge military presence from world war 2 still remains in Japan & Germany
and probably a bunch of other places...got kicked out of the Phillipines

Those forward deployments SUBSIDIZE those economies...
our military's boots on the ground are spending their paychecks in those
countries!

We meddled in Japans post WWII constitution... time for them to grow a
pair and defend themselves
While we subsidize Germany's economy, they export post Nazi genetic
science experiment Ayrian super models

****s gotta stop.
Europe needs to grow up, get some nards and get some military deterrance.

March 26th 09, 10:49 PM
the soviets went bankrupt because they had a "SOCIALIST
ECONOMY".....socialism never works
