Default Labor's ideologically-based sabotage of our economy

Oct 2008

"Mining sector warns ETS will drive industry offshore

The Australian mining industry has attacked the Federal Governments
economic model for an emissions trading scheme.

It's repeated claims business will go offshore

It hasn't changed its tune ever since an emissions trading scheme was
suggested.

The sector wants special treatment for businesses such as aluminium
refiners and coal fired energy producers.

By their very nature, both are high CO2 emitters.

But if they cut that too drastically, industry argues competitors in
other countries that don't have carbon caps will take over their business.

And that's the crux of the issue for the Minerals Council of Australia.

CEO Mitch Hooke is adamant an ETS scheme must include other countries or
Australian companies will simply move overseas, a process known as
carbon leakage.

'Under the modelling coal fired electricity will come off 30 per cent by
2020 and 56 per cent by 2050' he says.

'Coal mining will be reduced by 26 per cent by 2050'.

Aluminium is going to come off 35 per cent by 2020 and 49 per cent by
205o'".
http://www.abc.net.au/site-archive/r...7/s2407200.htm

And then when aluminium smelters shut down & were not replaced, the
Global Warming morons, said "You see, carbon tax reduced emissions".

CARBON TAX REDUCED EMISSIONS ONLY BECAUSE ALUMINIUM SMELTING CAPACITY
WAS NOT REPLACED BECAUSE OF THE ****WIT ALP'S STUPID POLICIES.

SHUT DOWN *ALL* OF OUR INDUSTRIES AND YOU WILL HAVE NO "POLLUTION".

Complete rubbish.
The AUD kept rising under Labor. Even to above party! And that was while

like your fantasy 'expected' (hoped) rate cut. Much lower interest rates
under Labor. And commodity prices had already stopped rising.
