If you don't understand the insignificance of interfaces having been
configured to ignore LCP echo requests then don't perform that test and
concern yourself.

And when was the sam spade project abandoned? At the end did it actually
interrogate all of the relevant servers?

If you use use some of the on-line ping/traceroot/whois tools you
probably will not get the problems.
